Haley Nutt

Haley Nutt is a master’s student in Historical Musicology and Percussion Performance at The Florida State University. In 2015, she received a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Texas Christian University. As a musicologist, Haley’s research interests include percussion and gender and the history of the percussion ensemble in the United States. She has published work in the Percussive Arts Society journal Rhythm! Scene and has recently completed her master’s thesis on women percussion composers of the 20th century. As a performer, Haley has played with numerous award-winning ensembles including the FSU Percussion Ensemble, the TCU Percussion Orchestra, the TCU Drumline, and the Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corps. She also plays drum set in the FSU Rock Ensemble. She has also toured with the West Percussion group to Australia, Italy, and Hawaii as part of the International Festival of Winds and Percussion. Haley works as a front ensemble tech for schools in both Texas and Florida.
