ABOUT THE RESEARCH LIGHTNING SESSION: Music, Mallet and Mind – KiAikido applied to percussion

My Clinic/Performance will be based on my artistic research project on the Japanese Martial Art Ki-Aikido and percussion playing and 10 years of experience in teaching in this effective way at Royal Academy of Music Aarhus. It will be a journey from concrete exercises connecting mind and body through the scientific background and precise applications for percussion instruments. Performances of works from my project will give the clinic perspective and connect to the ideas.

The approach is suitable for all levels from beginner to professional and I have been invited to present my ideas at festivals and academies all over Europe. The impact of even a short clinic can be very strong, and I hope for the opportunity to give that experience to PASIC attendees.

The project has been supported with the most prestigious Danish grant for artistic research from The Ministry of Culture.
