To encourage the highest level of artistic expression in the art of drum set performance.
Entrants must be 22 years of age or younger as of May 14, 2017. No entrance fee or PAS membership needed to enter.
HOW IT WORKS
The 2017 PAS Drum Set Competition will feature finalists from a Senior and Junior Division, based upon online video entry. Up to 3 finalists from each division will be selected to compete at PASIC 2017 (Nov. 8-11, 2017) in Indianapolis, IN.
Entrants must include (1) one video recording via a link to an “Unlisted” YouTube video of their audition repertoire. Disqualification will occur if the performance does not adhere to the guidelines below.
Selected finalists will receive a four-day individual PASIC Registration ($200 value), but are responsible for all other financial commitments (room, board, travel). All entrants will receive comments from a panel of esteemed judges.
Below are the (3) three styles required for submission:
Track #1 - Pop/Funk/Fusion/Rock/Gospel
Track #2 - Jazz/Afro-Cuban/Brazilian
Track #3 - Your Choice
You have the option to choose Drum Set Play-Along tracks OR Drumless songs to fit the designated styles
Up to three finalists each from the Senior (Post High School) and Junior (High School and younger) Divisions will be selected to compete at PASIC 2017 (Nov. 8-11, 2017) in Indianapolis, IN. 1) Finalists will perform a pre-selected track as well as a (3) three-minute unaccompanied drum solo.
2) PAS will provide a drum set with the following setup (10-12-14 tom, 14” snare, 22” bass drum) (Hi-Hat, (2) Two Crash, Ride, and (1) One China Cymbal) for each participant to use for the finals competition at PASIC. Any alteration of the standard drum set is left up to the participant.
3) Contestants who are chosen as finalists should be aware that the PAS Drum Set Committee will work with instrument manufacturers to provide instruments for their PASIC performance, but cannot guarantee a specific instrument. Finalists may also choose to bring their own drum set for their PASIC performance, but will be responsible for all transportation and storage.
