About Thomas Burritt
There are storied educators, and there are dynamic performers, and then there are those who are destined to be both. Always in search of new music and new ways to share it with others, Thomas Burritt is today’s percussionist. Active in the creation and performance of new music for percussion Burritt has built a reputation in chamber music, as a percussion soloist and a concert marimbist. In 2009 and 2016, Burritt performed on two Grammy nominated recordings: “Conspirare in Concert” and “Pablo Neruda: The Poet Sings”, both distributed world wide on the harmonia mundi label.
He is currently Professor of Percussion and Director of Percussion Studies at the University of Texas at Austin and is a clinician/endorser for Majestic Percussion, Sabian Cymbals, Innovative Percussion, Remo, Beetle Percussion and Grover Pro Percussion.
The Keyboard Masterclass is open to all college-aged students. Applicants will be required to submit a preliminary video that is recorded in one continuous, unedited take. From there, THREE (3) applicants will be selected to participate in the Keyboard Masterclass with Thomas Burritt.
Deadline to apply for the Keyboard Masterclass is October 15, 2021.
All applicants must be current members of the Percussive Arts Society at the VIP, All Access, or International individual level through November 30, 2021. Applicants can join PAS, or renew their membership here.
PLEASE NOTE: In order to attend PASIC 2021, you must be able to verify that you are, or will be, fully vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to attending PASIC, November 10-13, 2021, in Indianapolis, Indiana. If you have a medical condition that prevents you from receiving the vaccination, you will need to email firstname.lastname@example.org in advance with proof of your exemption. No one will be able to receive their PASIC badge or wristband without being vaccinated or submitting advance proof of exemption.

All applicants will be required to submit a preliminary video consisting of the following:
- ONE (1) full performance of a work or transcription for solo marimba
