Internationally acclaimed percussionists, mallet artists, composers and improvisors Aldo Mazza, Anders Åstrand and Julie Spencer bring together diverse worlds of musical knowledge and creativity in their trio. From their lifetime of collaborations with artists across the globe, in recordings, international music festivals, on concert stages, in clubs, in universities, in live radio concerts and television performances throughout the world, as well as being featured performers and presenters in many PASIC events, the music careers of Aldo, Anders & Spencer make it possible for them to create music that transports.
American innovator Julie Spencer, based in Europe, published by Norsk Musikforlag, Oslo, contributes a recognizable sound as a composer with instrumental and vocal melodies simultaneously improvised, crossing genres of rock, rap, pop, classical and new contemporary, after immersive studies with Gamelan, West African, North Indian and Jazz masters. With commissioned works by orchestras, ensembles and soloists, recorded on over 30 CDs, Spencer is supported by Alternate Mode and Norsk Musikforlag. The melodic and rhythmic experimentation of Swedish mallet master and widely experienced composer, Anders Åstrand, has sounds of Scandinavian, Greek, and ancient vocal traditions, influenced also by collaborations with Uzbekistani and Ecuadorian musicians. Åstrand has contributed to video performances, dance, recordings of historic stones, and ice instruments. He endorses Yamaha instruments, Zildjian, LP, Evans Drumheads, and Innovative Percussion. The unique colors and world of rhythm created by well known Italian born drummer, composer and equipment designer, Aldo Mazza, founder of KoSA Music/KoSA Cuba, and member of Canadian ensemble Répercussion, celebrating its 50th year, with his recording and touring experience alongside many luminaries in jazz, pop, film, new music, and classical music, ground the improvisations with sensitive and energetic power. Mazza is a clinician for Sabian, Ludwig, Musser, LP, Alfred Music, Evans Drumheads and Pro Mark Drumsticks.
