

About Chris Bill
Chris Bill is an active drummer and educator performing in NYC. He holds a DMA in jazz studies and is currently an ABD Ph.D. candidate at Stony Brook University. His research and practice focus on methods of improvisation, composing new music that is influenced by a diverse pallet of music, jazz composition, and advancing drum set pedagogy. His DMA dissertation focused on translating metric modulation traditionally found in modern contemporary music to jazz and other genres, and the use of motivic development in contemporary percussion and drum set. To complete his Ph.D. in composition, Chris is producing a theatrical work retelling the story of Kalief Browder who was cruelly swallowed up by the justice system in America. Chris also holds a MM in Modern American Music from Longy School of Music, a BM in Jazz Performance and Music Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
