About Douglas Walter
Dr. DOUGLAS WALTER heads percussion studies at the University of Colorado Boulder. The first marimbist to win the prestigious Concert Artists Guild Award in NYC, he’s performed over 300 solo recitals/concerti in 30+ states and nine European countries. During his BMus at North Texas, he played vibes/marimba with the 1:00 Lab Band on the first university recording nominated for a Grammy award. He did two Masters Degrees at U. of Michigan, a DMA at Temple U. with Alan Abel and David Samuels, and a French Literature BA at UCB, summa cum laude. He endorses Yamaha Musical Instruments & Encore Mallets. Dr. BRIAN CASEY, Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies at University of Northern Colorado, specializes in jazz history and pedagogy. He holds a DMA in jazz from UC Boulder, an MM in jazz studies from U. of North Texas, and presents his original research at Jazz Education Network conferences.
