About Duo Contexto
Duo Contexto has been performing since 1990 when it was created in Brazil. From 97 until 2000 it has been appointed ensemble in residence at the Centre International de Percussion in Geneva, Switzerland where it played in many important venues such as Festival de La Batie and Archipel Festival. In 2000 and 2001 the duo had its debut in Japan during the Suita Marimba Festival.
In 2009 Duo Contexto has recorded its first CD (SESC Label) featuring only brazilian repertoire, some of them composed for the duo. In 2010 the duo has recorded its second CD with guest flutist Verena Bosshart. A CD with only commissioned pieces from swiss composers.
Since 2005 the duo has been performing in the US, Europe and South America. Most part of the concerts involves brazilian repertoire with many collaborations with composers from Brazil such as Flo Menezes, Eduardo Alvares, Paulo Chagas, Hermeto Pascoal, Silvio Ferraz among others.
In 2018 the duo was of the guest artists in the Festival de Música de Câmara do SESC in São Paulo, Brazil.
