About Eric Millstein
Eric Millstein is a percussionist with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and he teaches percussion at the DePaul University School of Music and the Curtis Institute of Music. He frequently plays with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and was principal percussionist and assistant timpanist of the Grant Park Music Festival from 2002-2019. Eric has given classes at a variety of schools and festivals, including Tanglewood Music Center, Interlochen Arts Academy, and the New World Symphony. He is the author of The Little Book of Orchestral Percussion, published by Pocket Publications in 2020. Eric received a Bachelor of Music from New England Conservatory and a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from Tufts University. He also earned a Master of Music from Temple University and subsequently completed his education as a member of the New World Symphony. Eric’s primary percussion teachers were Nora Davenport, Will Hudgins, and Alan Abel.
