
About Herí Brandino
Herí Brandino earned his Bachelors degree from São Paulo State University and his Masters degree in percussion from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. He was also a temporary student in the Masters course at McGill University, Montreal. Herí is currently professor of percussion at the São Paulo State Music School (EMESP), and in the postgraduate course in Brazilian percussion at Faculdade Santa Marcelina, where he teaches classes on the science and organology of percussion and contemporary improvisation. Herí also researches multilingual performance, combining movements, sounds and expressions in a single body. He has presented this research in performance in São Paulo at the II Brazilian Percussion Congress, and has published and lectured on the subject. He was a professor at the São Paulo State University (UNESP) for 3 years and during this period (2014-2016) he served as co-director of the percussion ensemble PIAP (Percussion Group of the Instituto de Artes de São Paulo). Herí Brandino has also worked and is active in several contemporary music groups, including the Percorso Ensemble, Camerata Aberta, Ensemble Música Nova, Camerata Latino-Americana and Grupo PIAP. He has performed in several editions of the Música Nova, Música de Agora and BIMESP festivals, and others. He has performed in different venues in Switzerland at the Jughendorchester Festival; in Brussels and Herzele at the Europalia International Arts Festival, and in Amsterdam at the Festival Terra Brasilis and in Montreal.
