About Marimba Cabaret

Originally from the San Francisco bay area, Brian Calhoon (he/him) is a percussionist and innkeeper based in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Brian specializes in music for marimba and his voice and can be heard singing show tunes and pop covers in a show he created called the Marimba Cabaret. Winner of the 2017 Portland Fringe Festival Critics Choice award, Marimba Cabaret has appeared in San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Boston and Provincetown. As a singing marimbist, Brian has had pieces written for him by composers Thomas Oboe Lee, Derek Tywoniuk, John Murphree, and Beau Kenyon. Brian is a former Bang On A Can Summer Institute fellow, Zeltsman Marimba Festival associate faculty, Blue Devils Drum & Bugle A-Corps member, and graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and The Boston Conservatory. Brian is a Marimba One Discovery Artist and his former teachers include Jack Van Geem and Nancy Zeltsman.
