Dr. Mark Cook is an active new music percussionist and music educator who has performed across the southwestern and midwestern United States. Currently, Mark lives and performs in the northwest area of Ohio and teaches at Defiance College and Bluffton University.
A technology specialist, Mark’s primary interest in contemporary music is devoted to using technology in performance, ranging from purely electronic instruments to music that encompasses a mixture of acoustic and electronic elements. His current research is on telematic music. Mark is also actively involved in commissioning and premiering new works for the electronic medium.
Mark received his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Contemporary Music from Bowling Green State University where he studied with Dr. Roger Schupp. Other teachers include Dr. Norman Weinberg, Robin Horn, and Scott Ney.
