About Michael LaMattina

Michael LaMattina serves as Principal Percussion with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and is the Director of Percussion Studies at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. With the DPO Mr. LaMattina performs classical, pops, opera and ballet programs as well as trio concerts at local schools. In his capacity as percussion professor at Miami University, Michael teaches applied percussion, studio class, runs all aspects of the percussion program, and is the director of the Miami University Percussion Ensemble. In addition to traditional percussion ensemble music, the MUPE presents unique arrangements of current music by artists such as Radiohead, Bjork, and Sakamoto. During the summer Michael serves as the Principal Percussionist with the Lancaster Festival Orchestra in Lancaster, OH. Other interests include film, architecture, design aesthetics, and personal fitness. Mr. LaMattina lives in Dayton with his wife Lori, their son Andrew, and their whippet Honey.
