About Western Carolina University Percussion Ensemble

The Western Carolina University Percussion Ensemble, based in Cullowhee, NC, is committed to presenting the most important and innovative works for percussion from the past and present. In addition to performing the most significant percussion repertoire from the 20th and 21st centuries, the ensemble regularly collaborates with living composers and premieres new works. Recent collaborations include working with composers Jonathan Bingham, inti figgis-vizueta, Susanna Hancock, Molly Joyce, Yaz Lancaster, James May, Finola Merivale, Emma O’Halloran, Gemma Peacocke, Shruthi Rajasekar, Aeryn Santillan, Annika Socolofsky, and Cassie Wieland. The WCU Percussion Ensemble has performed at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, the North Carolina Day of Percussion, Porchefest in Highlands, NC, and at other festivals and events throughout the Southeast region.
