About PASIC Volunteering

PASIC is the largest percussion event in the world featuring over 150 concerts, clinics, master classes, labs, workshops, panels and presentations. The finest artists from all over the world are invited to present and perform at PASIC. The program showcases all areas of percussion, including: drumset, marching, keyboard, symphonic, world, recreational, education, music technology, new music, and health & wellness.

We are seeking numerous hard working and enthusiastic individuals to lend their time, talent, and knowledge to this exciting international event. The Percussive Arts Society is working hard to ensure that this convention is a huge success for both the performers and the attendees. Please join us; we need your help to make this event happen!

Key Volunteer Information

PASIC volunteers do not have to be PAS Members. Non-Members are eligible to participate.

*Please Note: The deadline for PASIC registration refunds is October 1, 2019. No refunds on purchased registrations will be available after this date, even if you register to work as a Volunteer.

Age Requirement: All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age by the beginning of their first shift.

Available Positions: There is a wide range of responsibilities available. Please be sure to review all available positions and their descriptions before choosing the area(s) in which you are interested. Volunteers will be asked to register for two (2) shifts.  Each shift is an average of 4–5 hours. Certain positions may require constant activity during a shift, and/or standing for long periods of time.

Uniform: All volunteers will be provided with a PASIC Event Volunteer T-shirt. Please wear the provided t-shirt, comfortable shoes, and either non-distressed jeans, khakis, or black pants for all shifts.

Training: All volunteers will participate in a brief training session designed to familiarize each individual on all planned activities. Volunteers will be briefed on basic skills, specific responsibilities and given an overview of event locations. The training session will take place at the beginning of your shift.

Volunteer Positions

PASIC Registration Desk

This position handles all registration for the conference, including pick-up of all badges, passes and tickets, and serves as a general information desk representative for PASIC.

PASIC Badge Checkers

This position involves standing at session doors and checking badges to ensure that only registered PASIC attendees and ticket holders are entering the sessions. You may also be asked to assist with tracking attendance figures per session..

PASIC Gift Shop
This position will assist in the sales of PAS and PASIC merchandise.
Rhythm! Discovery Center Volunteer

This position will assist our staff at the Rhythm! Discovery Center during PASIC. Tasks include checking attendee badges at the entrance, manning the coat check, and monitoring activity in the museum.

PASIC I&E Competition
As a volunteer during the PASIC Individual & Ensemble Competition, you will work along-side the competition judges and PAS Marching Committee members. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the festival runs smoothly and that the participants have a positive experience. This can include assisting with moving equipment, running sheets for judges, or many other jobs. This event takes place on Thursday evening of PASIC.
PASIC Ensemble Competition Crew

This group of individuals will assist the Percussion Ensemble Committee in running the Concert Chamber Percussion Ensemble Competition on Friday of PASIC. Responsibilities include running scoresheets for the judges, assisting ensembles with doors and moving equipment, and keeping ensembles on schedule in the warm-up area

PASIC Marching Crew

As a member of The Marching Crew, you will work behind the scenes of the PASIC Marching Festival, along-side the judges and PAS Marching Committee members. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the festival runs smoothly and that the participants have a positive experience. This can include helping groups move their equipment, assisting the judges, or various other odd jobs. Friday consists of the Drumline Battle and Interactive Clinic events.
