About Yudong Wang

Yudong Wang is an accomplished percussionist and musician dedicated to the art of performance and education. Currently a candidate for a Doctor of Musical Arts in Percussion Performance at the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati, Yudong has consistently demonstrated exceptional talent and academic excellence throughout his educational journey.

With a diverse range of experiences, Yudong has performed with prestigious ensembles including the Cincinnati Youth Symphony Orchestra, China National Symphony Orchestra, and the Beijing Wind Orchestra. He has also been actively involved in various musical groups such as the CCM Musica Nova, CCM Philharmonia, and CCM Percussion Ensemble, showcasing his versatility and passion for percussion.

In addition to his performance endeavors, Yudong has also made significant contributions as an instructor and drum accompanist. He has served as a percussion instructor in the CCM Youth Ensemble and as the Percussion Manager in the Cincinnati Youth Symphony Orchestra. Yudong has also shared his expertise as a drum instructor at various music studios and as a drum accompanist at the CCM Dance division.

Yudong’s talent and hard work have been recognized through several awards and competition placements. He was a gold medalist for Marimba solo and a silver medalist for Snare Drum solo at the inaugural PAS ● China Festival. Additionally, he received the “GuoYin” Award and first place in the Chinese Teenager Marimba Competition.

Yudong’s musical education includes a Master of Music in Percussion Performance from the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati, and a Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance from The Hartt School, University of Hartford. Under the guidance of esteemed professors such as James Culley, Russell Burge, and Benjamin Toth, Yudong has honed his skills and expanded his musical horizons.
